May 23rd, 2026 - Australia’s Viral “Prettiest Street” Struggles With Tourist Crowds

Tasman Drive in Gerringong, a seaside town south of Sydney, has become an unexpected tourist attraction after going viral online as “Australia’s prettiest street.” Visitors now crowd the residential road to take photos of its sweeping view of green hills and ocean, often stopping cars or posing in the middle of the street.

The attention has brought both excitement and frustration. Tourism spending in the area has increased, but locals say the crowds can clog the narrow road, block driveways, create parking problems and sometimes leave residents dealing with inappropriate behavior.

Local officials say they are working on ways to manage the sudden fame without turning visitors away. Possible changes include parking limits, signs directing tourists to public bathrooms, extra trash cans and picnic tables.

Many residents say they still welcome people who want to enjoy the view, even if the attention has disrupted their quiet street. Some locals see the popularity as a reminder of how beautiful their home is, while others hope tourists will be more respectful of the neighborhood.
